My 9/11 Tribute (a Mello Mel Original)

"When I close my eyes and listen to this piece, the events of that day unfold, once again, as they did 10 years ago. But as I listen, I begin to see the support from around the world that poured in, and feel the strength of the families of those that were lost, and the endless courage of the responders - the police and fire departments, the two and four legged members of the search and rescue organizations, and the care given by all the medical personnel and aid organizations." ~ My dear friend Lynn.


Reading this comment from my friend made me feel much better bvecause I had lost a ton of footage with the flags. There was so much planned for ths video that was stripped away. My whole immediate family had stopped by this 9/11 memorial that was filled with SO MANY FLAGS. It was the most beautiful thing I had seen that day!!! I had footage of my brother and his son (my nephew) along with my dad, Missy and wife viewing the flags while taking time to reflect on the whole topic. There were priceless shots of them all in the sea of flags that were so incredible. There was even some shots of Missy doing some of her interpretive dancing before a crowd of viewers who who were also there for the same reason. It was so heart touching...I knew I had the footage I neded for this tribute video. Well, I had to switch memory cards in the camera (which I did without turning it off). When I get home, I learned that ALL that footage was lost. And even with that....I was going to complete the song with what I had left: a few seconds of flag footage...and just me playing the song. But....whe I checked the rendered video , which seemed like hours to render, it stops abruptly before the end...which included a 9/11 related message. With all of these things happening, I had concluded that the Lord just wanted the bare essence of what I had for this video, which ends suddenly, just as did the incidents on that day of 9/11. Do yo remember what you were doing when it all went down? This is my tribute...yet and still.
Oh...and yes, I do plan to go bag to the sea of flags and capture it again...which can end up in a folw-up response to this video...so keep looking out for that.

This is a wonderful and moving tribute mel ,I remember that horrible day so well ,my heart,thoughts and prayers go out to all the innocent and brave souls we lost that day and I pray that this never happens again ,may we see peace one day soon.

@beachfrontal That was great to read David. My original intent was for a lot of things to be happening visually...so I made the intro extra long for that. So....you can understand how bummed I was when I had learned that I lost all but 10 seconds of my flag footage; I was left with "nothing" plus a long intro...ha ha. But I am glad that you and some of the others could see through that. I liked your analagy as well. Thanks bro! Sewe you around,
