  • it's amazing how he doesn't make a fucking noise doing that!! haha

  • @jernmyre first of all there is nothing simple about the lifts these dudes do, you are making assumptions based on the basic laws of gravity. that doesnt cut it in olmpic weightlifting! there are numerous anthropometrical differences between lifters, various biomechanical considerations, your sweeping statements are misplaced, this game is anything.. but simple!!

  • I REPEAT: In the C+J its simple physics: its easier to lift 200 kg 1, 5 metres above the ground than to lift the same 200 kg 2 metres above the ground

  • @jernmyre no its no so much of an advantage in the clean and jerk

  • @trinity9011 But you have to lift the same weight over a longer distance and that is definately not an advantage in the clean and jerk. Besides 6 feet isnt tall in my opinion. But you do have a point

  • @jernmyre its because the first pull i.e. the deadlift uses huge muscles in the back and the athlete will undoubtedly be able to deadlift more than they can clean or snatch. therefore after the first pull, the taller you are the higher the bar will be of the ground, therefore the less distance the athlete needs to snatch the weight above their head, its quite simple really. and you do get tall weightlifters e.g. matthias stiener 6"1, klokov 6", Lapikov 6", Chigichev 6" to name but a few.

  • @jernmyre That is elite weightlifters height that i refer to of course..

  • @trinity9011 Yeah but the taller you are the more height you need to get under the bar. And in the clean and jerk: Taller man - longer arms- the higher you have to jerk it- Besides its simple physics: its easier to lift 200 kg 1, 5 metres above the ground than to lift the same 200 kg 2 metres above the ground. And if your reasoning is correct, then why are almost every weightlifter no matter the weight class seldomly above 1,80 metres tall??

  • @jernmyre not necessarily, in the snatch the taller you are the better, because after the first pull (deadlift basically) the taller you are the higher the bar is off the ground and therefore the less height you need to get on the bar in the second pull to snap under it for the overhead squat. I can see how you would think smaller people have an advantage though.

  • The taller you are , the higher you must lift the bar to get under it = small is an advantage.. of course
