Northwestern University Chorale and Wind Ensemble performance of Celebrations. Celebrations, composed by Vincent Persichetti, draws on the texts of Walt Whitman. Composed in nine movements that vary widely in style and mood, Persichetti's simple, judicious scoring passes rhythmic energy and musical line back and forth between chorus and winds, allowing space for every syllable of text to be heard.

  • great band!

  • Yawn at 14:20!

  • So what's going on with the video? It's not even kind of synced. But very nice audio. I love this piece!

  • This is a big piece of music that I didn't know that Persichette had composed for band and voices. It' s very nice. He's the one that put band music where it is today. He would start composing a piece and not realizing that he didn't have a place for strings, only to continue with the piece for band.

  • Good old Robert!
