This is a Dell Mini9 configured with a 16 GB Solid State Disk, 2 GB RAM, and Windows XP Professional. Nothing has been stripped out of the OS. Only the necessary system drivers and ActiveSync have been installed. Compression is not enabled on the drive.

From being off it takes 32 seconds to boot into a usable Windows desktop.

More impressive is it takes 15 seconds to resume from hibernation to a usable Windows desktop.

Windows XP Professional was installed by connecting a USB DVD-ROM to the system. The 2gb RAM chip I installed is just a standard DDR2-533 SODIMM, available anywhere.

Sorry about the GSM interference in the audio.

  • They only ship with XP Home or Ubuntu Linux, but you can reformat and do whatever you would like with it.

  • Cool, but the screen where the progress bar with Hibernating... really surprised me!

Both my XP Pro SP3 Computers dont do that!

  • wrong. while you can output (nearly) any resolution up to 1920x1200 via VGA, the physical screen resolution (as was asked) is 1024x600.

  • yes but you can make it go too 1024 by 768 by going to advance option

  • Great video thanks!

  • awesome. i just ordered one last sunday. how long did you have to wait to get your mini 9? i checked the status on dell's website and it shows estimated delivery date on 11/7/08!

  • I used to hear that static sound all the time! It would come over the TV, over the radio in my truck, and what is wierd, is that there was no cel phone around! What is a GSM? Very cute laptop!
