sad really cos he didnt need to die cos the reason for the film was for him to make the jet engine go into the past in the first place therefore his death was just a sad happening

I was so gutted when I saw this clip, I have to pretend it doesn't exist because it ruins the film for me, it just made sense to me how I imagined it...I knew he obviously died and I figured he didn't get "smooshed" because you can see the jet engine doesn't actually drop on him but I just figured that he died in his sleep and didn't feel anything, but this video makes it that he died slowly and in a lot of pain..Richard Kelly dismisses it so I shall too.. R.I.P. Donnie Darko

@RD2006 He actually did do it consciously... and there is proof that it wasn't just his dream. If you go back to the end scene, somewhere before he dies (I think that it was a bit before he went into his bed) there are many car honks. The person who honked the car was FRANK! The primary universe Frank because he somehow realized what was going on and wanted to save Donnie before he would have to die a terrible death.
