This is my sixth and final leveling grounds where I reach level 99, and I'm still on disk 1. You can access it as soon as the Tiny Bronco becomes available, very shortly after the fifth leveling grounds. On the second time I completed the game, I found this area and what's most surprising, it's very easy, especially combined with the fury ring to make everyone berserk (levels 40 to about 60 should have at least one character not as berserk, preferably the one with low physical attack power, to stand by for potential healing. Below level 40, avoid using berserk altogether. As a secondary option, you could look into fighting the "sea worm" found along the beaches. This enemy is always there, easy to fight, rarely attacks (for about 120 damage to all), and could be dealt with somewhat well as low as level 15 to 20 and would be better until you reach about 40 (less if you want more challenge - below 30 not recommended). I've never been to this area on a level below 70 so I really can't say for sure (90% certainty is still quite reasonable though - this high as it's based on observations while I was at those levels, during my fourth leveling grounds). Because everyone is berserk, very little interaction is needed, so little that I can literally watch TV while doing this (at the time I was going this, I was watching Morning Express on CNN, seriously). The only interaction needed is to hold the up directional button to get a battle, then just wait. When the battle is over, I just check to make sure no materia has been mastered. If materia has been mastered, I replace it with the new one. Whether or not materia has been mastered, I return to holding the up button as before for another battle and repeat. From level 73, it only takes about 20 hours. This video is of the final stretch. I got level 99, still on disk 1, with less than 60 hours' gameplay, though on a fast run, I could probably have it in about 40 hours. While I don't max out everyone at level 99, I do so for my favorites, Cloud and Red XIII in particular.

Because the main leveling is extremely repetitive, I show you the aftermath from all that. Take a close look at the materia I've accumulated from mastering it so much on the dash for 99. Once it passes the 90% full mark, I'm tempted to get to shops to quickly get rid of it. The second half is what I do. I always leave 3 mastered ones and I sell the top one after the 3. To prevent accidentally selling other materia beyond it, I head to the bottom of the list of the same type and sell the bottom 3. I return to the top, then sell the "cut out area". With the removed ones gone, and since there's nothing there, nothing happens. Take note of the high amount of "exit" and "all" materia I have and how much gil I have at the end - yep, over 120 million! My record (as of May 20, 2008) is still more than 10 times that at 1.3 billion....

  • what does attack % do raise your chance to hit?

  • Attack % is indeed accuracy. This is dependent pretty much exclusively on the weapon. Status effects like blind and fury will offset this.

  • what does defense % do for the weapons stats and stuff i don't get it i have had the game since it came out but still don't get it

  • Defense % is evasion. If you max out dexterity from morphing an enemy called "poodler", defense % really gets high, to 64 if I recall. Enemies have a hard time hitting with that.

  • um this may be a stupid question but what does vitality do?

  • It reduces damage from physical attacks, though it's not very significant. It's considerable, however, when you raise it a significant amount, but still not very much.

  • I find leveling in that sunken shinra transport plane at the bottom on the ocean is the best place for leveling. On average you'll get 1200 exp per fight. With 3000 being the highest. Yea you'll need to be rather high and won't be accessible until disk 2, though.

  • Once you get enough power sources from morphing an enemy in Gongaga village called "heavy tank", available as soon as you complete the "temple of the ancients" event, any weapon in the game can do damage like that. Once strength is maxed, it doesn't matter. The same goes for vitality, allowing you to focus far more on available materia slots than defense.

  • She actually doesn't steal it all when you've got tons of it. I was left with a lot of materia, about half.

  • you...have...alot...of....materia next thing you know yuffie steals it all LOL
