I am a big fan Theo Jansen's work, so I sat down and made this model using a 10 year old set of K'Nex.

  • you need to make a how to video for this

  • No all that remains is to make it walk....

  • @ciremip make a vid of it! that should be coowl...

  • Using K'nex, I build an Theo Jansen Mechanism thar really walks. with 8 legs.

    Greetings

  • yeah same here i built mine before i saw this video and i can see that i used the same exact pieces in the same place you did. great work

  • For anyone interested, the simplified integer Jansen linkage ratios:

    Crank: 1

    Crank-leg arms: 4

    (Right) Triangles, mount, parallelogram: 3

Leg stem (can be absent): 0..2 (>2 requires legs be out of plane)

  • cool !! good work

  • yeah, I think the feet might be on the ground for a tad bit too long.

  • could you measure... pleeeeaaase?

  • that would walk, the legs move in a the perfect motion, dragging flat across the floor, lifting in a curve, then moving gradually back towards the floor
