  • @BloozeDaddy76 1. "Never Had it So Good" was his ONLY R&B hit (Ronnie explained it in an interview on this site from milsapmania2012). (That was both a shame and maybe the best thing that happened in his career (what a paradox, huh?); why that is is another story.) 2. I've read that Scepter was initially going to release this to follow the A-side, but they changed their gameplan after Ray released his version as a single. I personally give thumbs down to the lyrics, but do enjoy the MUSIC.

  • This was the flip side of Ronnie's first R&B hit from 1965. This shows Milsap's amazing talent as a vocalist. He sounds so black and soulful you would never believe this guy is supposed to be a country singer!

Ray Charles recorded his version of this after hearing this version by Ronnie, and sadly Ronnie's went unnoticed by everyone while Ray had the big hit.

  • What a GREAT song!!! I just am discovering Ronnie Milsap for the 2nd time since I heard his hits on the radio in Toronto as a kid. ie-Smokey Mountain rain. But what a great talent he is to be able to play and write real R&B without sounding the least bit white. And his songs are ingenius and funny!!! LOVE THIS DUDE! Very cool. I hope he comes to Toronto or Ottawa or Montreal sometime before "the party's over" so to speak. Thank you very much for posting so much of his stuff. God Bless!
