I saw both of them... with Laurence Olivier and Timothy Dalton, I agree, Timothy is so closer to the book. He is perfect as Heathcliffe.

Alfred Newman's 1939 soundtrack is the most magnificent and evocative movie soundtrack in the entire history of film.

Yes indeed, they are both Shakespeare actors and have almost the same voice.Still of character they are totally different. He later restored the theater that onces belonged to Olivier and has a lot of admiration for this actor.

Try Ebay - sometimes they do get recorded versions of movies on DVD or VHS.
Timothy Dalton and Laurence Olivier resemble each other quite closely. I loved both their equally strong performances as Heathcliffe; although the Dalton film was probably more closer to the book

It never fails...I cry every time I hear this sound. I LOVE Oberon/Olivier duo original, nothing else.
