WRH rocks, love the site, no he's not a "neo-con" apologist (lol), and keith olbermann is a national treasure. oh yeah and Juan Cole is good peeps too =)
Thanks for posting this, rainboyknows. Juan Cole is a daily read for me, the foremost authority on Iraq. Good to see and hear him (I don't watch REAL tv).
He did not say that Israel--as a people--whould be wiped off of the map. If you know Farsi, like Juan Cole does, and like I do, you would understand what he said and what he meant. His intentions were clear in the very next line of his statement: "Just like the Soviet Union was wiped off of the map." Now, does that mean that all the Russians were killed? He was talking about an ideology.
Cole is an Iranian EXPERT, not an apologist, tho' some people would try to strawman him as such. Cole has a point regarding Jewish dual loyalties. Pro-Israel lobby groups (AIPAC) pressure moderate Jews into supporting Israel-first ventures. Cole is right, the Iranian prez didn't say Israel should be wiped of the map. Ahmad speaks Persian (farsi), and the correct translation is not indicative of what the term, "wiped from the map" insinuates to English speakers-- i.e. total annihilation.
What's so insane about the claim that an American Jew in the government has dual loyalties? Especially since for the most part they fight for Israel's rights & interests before United States interests.
And Ahmadinejad DID NOT say Israel should be wiped off the map. Just more of the usual mainstream propoganda to put Iran in a bad, Nazi-esque light.
In any case, Iran is a scapegoat for the idiotic US & Israeli administrations, just as the Jews were for Hitler and the 3rd Reich...

Ahmadinejad didnt say Isreal should be wiped off the Map.
Go learn Farsi or find a Farsi speaker to translate what he really said.
And no, people can't have dual loyalties. One is a loyalty and the other is a front. You can't serve two masters.
