another great gala held by the GCR, the theme for this years winter gala was of Lostock Hall shed, one of the final steam engine sheds open at the end of BR steam, featuring motive power which would have been at the shed at around the late 1960s, the lineup was:

| BR Standard 7MT Class 70013 'Oliver Cromwell'
| BR Standard 2MT Class 78019
| LMS Black Five Class 44767 'George Stephenson'
| LMS Black Five Class 45231 'The Sherwood Forester'
| LMS 'Stanier Mogul' 5MT Class 42968
| LMS 'Jubilee' Class 5690 'Leander'
| LMS 8F Class 48305 (Running as 48476)
| LMS 3f Jinty Class 47406

the day didn't exactly go to plan, as some trains were up to Half an Hour late, how ever the gala still remained exciting and interesting, jam-packed with action. we see lineside locations in this video, at Quorn and Woodhouse stations' TPO demonstration area where the video begins, a Bridge near Loughborough where we see 5690 appering to leave Loughborough with the Windcutter wagons, however it was just shunting them into a siding, Charnwood water where we see 42968 pass with Freight and 5690 fly past 47406 heading for Leicester North with 44767 on the rear. and also on the Bridge at Quorn, where we see 47406 leave with the local, and 42968 and 44767 passing each other making a very 1960s scene.

also included in the video are some photographs of a session of night shoots me and some others took part in at Loughborough sheds in the dark, creating a feel of Lostock Hall on the eve of the Final Day of steam, my new stills camera came in very handy here, having many night time modes, created some stunning pictures if i say so myself, the final photograph of 48305 is the best result from this photography session, however it was very enjoyable, thanks to all the staff at the GCR for the warm and welcoming attmoshere once again!

  • love the tpo, though not as good as another tpo run on youtube.

if they did a display like that in a mainline station packed with people, i think there would be many newcomers to the hobby of steam!
