Hi This is my seventh video I express from a clear personal perspective the differences between High Functioning Autism & Asperger's Syndrome. In terms of my formal diagnosis of High Functioning Autism (I had a previous diagnosis of Asperger's as a Statement of Education in 2009), early development, speech delay, perspective differences & how that effects you in Adult life. Enjoy :-)

  • Asperger's Syndrome is a specific type of High Functioning Autism. You have Asperger's Syndrome. They just throw the rest of us into PDD-NOS.

  • @NexusStrider Hi difference between Asperger's Syndrome and High Functioning Autism is speech delay I had this as a child I was also had classic (Kanner's) Autism as a child I so by developmental point of view I have High Functioning Autism. With Asperger's Syndrome you don't have speech delay and you are do not have classic (Kanner's) Autism as a child there are also processiong and perception differences between HFA and AS. PDD-NOS is sometimes called Atypical Autism it sounds much better.

  • @NexusStrider Hi the differences between Asperger's Syndrome and High Functioning Autism is speech delay I had this as a child, I was also has classic (Kanner's) Autism as child a didn't start showing devlopment progress until I was around 7 or 8. With Asperger's Syndrome you don't have speech delay and you don't have classic (Kanner's) Autism as a child. There are also processing and perception differences between HFA & AS. PDD-NOS is called by some specialists Atypical Autism.

  • I didn't get diagnosed with Aspergers until I was fifteen (we were rather poor, not good parents either). It's interesting to me the idea of having people around you at a young age that know more about what might be going on with you.

Did you have a lot of help-or-understanding when you were little?

  • @PoochyLaser Hi I had a statement of education in first off when I was 22 years old, before that I was misdiagnosed in a mental health practice it was only this year that I was formally diagnosed with High Functioning Autism at 24 years old. I started a lot of research with books and going to a social group thats how my knowledge grew. I didn't have any help during my educational years at all. How about you?

  • There is no such thing as Asperger's. That's why the term is being dropped from the new DSM

  • Cheers. This video helped me alot.

  • @PoochyLaser please believe me, i have gone through the same. i dont have a loving, caring, understanding family. i dont really have a family neither... im 12 and have aspergers syndrome , and i know what your thinking "oh, little kiddy coming in now" but dont. my education is being messed up, and everything. and your right, life is happy, but full of woe's. live your life my freind. dont let anything slow you down. if i could build a happy, loving world, i would. but i cant... please reply...

  • @TheIsaacs22 I can't believe you went so long (24) till you got the diagnosis you needed. I'm 27 now, and 15 when I was diagnosed. Until I was 15 my life was not only a terrible experience (social not so much in my personal sphere), but I didn't have much of any support. My parents were in trouble with the law. I've lived with my Aunt since 15, and my Grandmother was with us until 2 years ago she died of stomach cancer.

Life is happy, but full of woes. I choose to keep living.

  • @11pouncey11 Yes thats fine. Thank you for taking an interest in the video. :-)
