Little did we know he's a historical London sight on wikipedia decades later.

I used to love how his billboard was too small for her message so he'd hooked up that extension on the bottom for 'sitting' . I used to pass him several times a day back in the 80's, for something like 12 years. He always looked the same and never looked defeated. Strange man, but perhaps rather kindly .
