  • That was musical heaven!

  • @CrystalBlueProject - I agree - I think I'll watch it one more time.

  • Love the classical raw EWF sound back then...before Midi and that synths came into the picture. I was trying to think of any bands that have used two drummers and couldn't think of any. Just goes to show you how serious EWF were about there rhythms and beats.

  • @emanuel4 - Only band I can think of is Genesis, with Chester Thompson and Phil Collins on drums.

  • @calism23 - I know the Doobies had 2 drummers as well as the Greatful Dead. It's funny @emanuel4 mentioned Genesis in this post because EW&F and Genesis are my 2 favorite bands of all time. GREAT musicians, GREAT writers, and GREAT with rhythm and melodies, who both achieved GREAT critical and sales success. I've always wondered: 1) how Maurice determined which of the 3 drummers played on a track 2)why include another drummer? and 3) why Ralph was transitioned to vocalist/percussionist

  • @kaybeluv - By three drummers, I guess you mean Fred, Ralph and Phil. Did you know that Maurice used to be a jazz drummer?

    THE FUNK BROTHERS FROM MOTOWN!!

  • @calism23 Each and everyone of them were multi-talented beyond compare. Look at Johnny Graham [their other guitar player] with a big body guitar strapped around his neck as he plays trumpet [3:40] at the close of the song.

  • Verden White is cutting up on the bass show stopper. I love it!

  • I love this song it was one of my favorite songs from them back in 75

  • @calism23 Interesting fact for you, Philip played drums before EW,&F, but only did percussion with the group( congas,etc.). The third drummer of the group was Fred White because Maurice and Ralph were the original drummers for the new Earth,Wind and Fire(post 1971).

  • Johnny Graham played trumpet and guitar.

  • @calism23 talking of chester thompson, he was in frank zappa's '74 band, which featured two drummers.

i think there's a good example of the two soloing either side of oneanother from, 'village of the sun-don't you ever wash that thing-echidna's arf of you' song cycle.

  • @horseplayinkidd- now that's real talk! Yessir!!!

  • yo! this is real music right here!

  • @LGLG69 Thank you. I've admired his playing for the longest but never knew he played left-handed.
