A pleasant enough Christmas recording. But for pop Yuletide cheer from a female vocalist, I still take Aretha's version of this tune, Darlene Love's "Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)," Brenda Lee's "Rockin Around The Christmas Tree," and Ronnie Spector's "Sleigh Ride."

This is okay, musically. But the version of this song by Aretha Franklin takes this tune to greater heights.
Macy Gray's raspy style, though distinctive (and, therefore, preferable to all these technical warblers among today's female recording vocalists, of the Mariah Carey School of Over-Emoting), still never achieves that bravura level worthy of the excellent arrangement of instrumentals behind her voice here.
