My dad reminiscences about meeting John F. Kennedy in Union Grove, Wisconsin and learning of his death a few years later. When Kennedy was running in the 1960 Democratic Primary, Wisconsin was an important state. The second primary, Wisconsin was considered a test of whether anti-Catholic prejudice would affect Kennedy's chances of winning the nomination and general election. Kennedy (and his family) therefore traveled throughout the state, meeting with its citizens, before he defeated Hubert Humphrey 56% to 44%.
