http://mlyon.com Mike Lyon's February 5, 2007 first attempt to paint a very large CNC controlled airbrushed gesture portrait of "Jim" with LOTS of technical problems with airbrush clogging, drips, etc -- but looks promising -- later efforts were more 'controlled'!

  • Thanks for that (LOL)! Actually, the control worked very well, but I needed a LOT of experimentation with different ink and paint formulations in order to keep the thing clog-free and painting consistently -- eventually got decent results!

  • Fascinating. I had this same idea myself, today, but it looks like you beat me to it. Browsing airbrush forums, I found that a constant paint flood is difficult to achieve. You might want to try cruising those for advice.

it seems to me most logical to use an on/off method where the brush sprays paint for maybe five seconds, then sprays clean air and moisture for two seconds to clean itself, then repeats in that cyclic fashion.

Rapid prototyping would greatly benefit from this.

  • nice airbrush controle dude lol
