  • Please stop comparing 1986 and 2011! In 1986 the cars had more power and it was much more difficult to handle them. BUT: Today drivers have to press so many buttons, need to save their car (tyres, engine, etc.).

It's not easier today and not more difficult. Just the field of duty has changed.

  • This is just an awful comparison. 1.36 is by no means a flying lap from Senna. In 1985 he lapped 1.20.4 in qualifying and fastest lap in race was Alboretos 1.22.6.

  • Hoy en dia los F1 tienen mucha mas trabajada la aerodinamica que los del 86

  • @wheelychecker please stop watching videos you dont want to watch!

  • you can hear senna letting off as he nears the top of the hill, obviously not on a pole lap

  • the fact the 86 cars had 1400hp in qualifying trim means nothing

the modern cars are in a differant league.

its like the people who think gpB rally cars are the quickest rally cars, they are not.modern wrc cars would leave them well behind

technology moves on,and the cars get quicker

  • senna still the best no matter what

  • @eamh2002 - The track is still exactly the same apart from the re-profiled chicane, which actually added about 3 seconds to the times.

You seem to feel the bumps more in the old clip so much more because the quality of the footage was so poor and the mounting points for the cameras were nowhere near as stable.

Put a camera from 1986 on a modern car and I'd wager the bumps would look even worse, not to mention, the cars would look HEAPS harder to drive.

  • @Marcus666Sund 2004-2005 there were no slicks they got banned after 1997 because the car's were "too fast" But one thing is right. 2004 were the fastest cars.

  • Heheh, this video shows that the old car is doing 50% of what it can do, and the new car is going at its max.

Tyres definately, and did you ever think of the big bumps that the old track had?

  • The older cars are fucking great! You can't compare them to the new jets nowadays..

  • You morons! That was senna's warmup lap! and 1986 was way better than these toys today
