American history is so much more than dates and documents — it's the dynamic story of the real men and women, immigrants and Native Americans, who together built our country. Disneys The American Presidents is a fresh and relevant narrative (developed with a former producer of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report) about the men who led this country through change and the lives they affected, from an early idea of democracy to our first African American President.

Each DVD includes short-form Presidential biographies, era overviews for historical context, and thematic segments such as The Making of the Presidency and We the People. The DVD content is based on National Curriculum Standards and features interviews with political luminaries such as Sam Donaldson, Wesley Clark, Paul Begala, Melissa Harris-Lacewell and many more. Try the interactive whiteboard content on every DVD — its an exciting, competitive game that uses video clips, photographs and quotes to test students understanding of the Presidents, their political positions, and why they matter in the American story.

This volume covers the 12th-25th presidents!

  • He was a good president, but I think he is a little overated, he only freed the slaves because he needed abolitionist to help fight in the war. The war wasn't fought over slavery, it was because the south lost power in the house of reps, and in senate. Then they declared independance, the war was faught so they wouldn't be their own country. And if most Americans today knew about this, I think the war would be looked at in different ways. Seeing if it was all neccesary.

  • One of the greatest leaders in world history.

  • What is the name of the music from 2:20? Anyone knows

  • Just my opinion, Abraham Lincoln was equal to Apostle Paul, he had a short legacy of freeing people, he putted his ideas down to do his best, died violently and left a legacy that still endures through out the ages

  • @Kevinpitviperorton What makes you think I'm not black?

  • @connorqb17 Im not black but ur a racist i can tell. i just say the truth

  • He was also the first president to be elected from the newly found party of the "Republican" :))

  • @connorqb17 The fact that he even chose to abolish slaves, even for military or economic reasons, was a decision unheard of at that time. He might seem overrated because his primary goal was not to "free slaves" per say, but he did more than anyone else was willing to. If we all lived back then, our attitudes about slaves would be much more different than it is today. One step today might have been 10 steps back then. Times have changed.

  • go ABE !

  • @connorqb17 the war was fought because the south wanted to expand slavery, and the country was breaking apart. Read about Bleeding Kansas and the 1850 compromise. I can just hear the nation tearing apart like a piece of fabric , the whole country could hear it rip apart! P.S that may sound crazy, but I love history!!!

  • He is awesome

  • Good old Abe he held our country together he created the Emancipation Proclamation,he gave the Gettysburg Address, and to some is credited as the father of Union Pacific our nations railroad when he signed the Pacific Railway Act. but too bad Wilkes Booth had to kill him. Abe Lincoln was a great man and a giant among men.
