You don't lose your bait if you reel the lime in without a fish attached. Also, repeatedly pressing A is a BAD method that results in a lot of snapped lines. You need to rhythmically hold a for a half second and let go over and over.

@MoogleBoss Oh ok ive never heard of doing that before.

I realize this, however, using the TreePole to even try getting the cash for the StickRod is stupidly tedious (and you even say so in the video summary!) but selling the TreePole and LifePl from the Elder's office reduces the pain of the first fishing expedition.
Not that you don't need to savestate when you've only got one worm, but using the TreePole at all should be recommended against. The StickRod will make life easy, and you'll pull in cash faster.

way to puss out.
If you are using an emulator then just crank up the game speed and set your attack button to turbo. then just walk around holding down the turbofied attack key and you will be going through random battles in 1-2 sec each.

What if you don't want to gain any levels?

@MoogleBoss It sounded like you were presenting a money making solution. So when i saw you were using an emulator i brought up the speed thing. Its fast money as well. Why dont you wanna gain levels?

Players may often choose not to overlevel so that the game remains fun.
In this particular video, I'm playing the lowest level challenge as the title indicates and the only experience that the party gets is from bosses and mandatory battles. Deatheven was beaten by a lv. 12-13 party in the end, I finished it 2 years ago or so and recorded most of it.

An easier option for getting the StickRod instead of this tedious process is to take the TreePole you get from the flashback, AND the LifePl (Life Pill) you get from the Elder's room in the Ranger Guild, and sell them. TreePole sells for 50G, and LifePl sells for 250G, which gives you the 300G necessary for the StickRod without a single unforced encounter.

The purpose of all this finishing isn't to buy a StickRod. We need thousands of cash here.
