The video is from JPL animation "tpglobal.mpeg", which is no longer available through the JPL website.
The video illustrates the Slow Moving Rossby wave that initiated the start of that historic La Niña. The Rossby wave is visible at about 10N in the tropical Pacific, travelling from east to west at the beginning of the video. The video also illustrates the impact of that Rossby wave and the strengthening of the trade winds associated with the La Niña on the Sea Level residuals of the East Indian and West Pacific Oceans. The video captures the period from January 1998 through June 2001. As is plainly visible, the warm waters released by the 1997/98 El Niño event do not suddenly disappear at the end of the El Niño.
