UPDATE: There is a MUCH better version of this song that I made listed in the video responses. Go there if you don't want to hear this song butchered in this video.

Another great RPG from the Super Nintendo, the Lufia series is among the most challenging you'll find. The second installment of the series had some really good puzzles to tease your brain as well as some great gameplay.

This composition is the regular battle music from that game. This one was quite easy to do as most of the rhythm is based on 8th notes instead of 16ths, and as such it didn't take too long.

What I can say, though, is that I wish the MPC program allowed a slightly larger range of octaves. It would be a cool idea if you could hold a button down like "+" and "-" and it would add or subtract an octave from where you placed the note. More than five notes at once, maybe like eight or ten, would also be a great bonus, but such are the limitations of the program. I still think this turned out fairly well.

  • I was wondering if somebody did Lufia II battle music on Mario paint and here it is. And a rather good rendition too. How did you compose this, all by ear? Ive never seen sheet music for this. If you did it by ear, then my accolades and kudos to you. Thanks for posting it.

  • Don't give me TOO much credit. I'm not good enough to do all of this by ear, though I did for some parts of my videos (The "danger" music and game over theme from my 1943 video are good examples).

I mostly use a MIDI notation program and compose from there.

  • Regardless of how you managed to make this, it is still incredible. The fullness of the song itself is incredibly impressive. I wouldn't even have the patience to put something like this together.

And I just realized I commented on this 2 years ago and I still think this is really good. Well done sir! Well done.

  • You must be really good at this. I tried it out, but I couldn't even get the main song down, let alone a harmony! Good Job!

  • Very well done!

  • Good job man
