I have been helping to create the first ever residence for people living with ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease. My inspiration comes from my friend Ron who lives with grace and optimism in conditions of which most would prefer death. Recently diagnosed when we met, I knew that my life's new mission was to give Ron, myself, and thousands like us a choice to live with ALS and not die of it.
I was extremely fortunate to meet Barry Berman who not only shared my dream, but was in a position to do something about it. To give this speech at the groundbreaking of a home that will give back so much of what ALS has taken away is a huge honor. To Ron I say, we're getting close. To everyone else, hang in there for the ribbon cutting.
Wonderful speech Steve. I met you and your friends at the trek this past July. I was there with Team Sheila and it was Sheila who sent me to this youtube site. i will be watching the progress of the "hole in the ground" and hope to see it grow into the home you have designed. Keep writing "computer Steve!
