Good video. But, it's not a black/white thing. Charlestown has been "gentrified" too. Irish families who lived here for generations can no longer afford to live here. We've been priced out of our own neighborhood.

no your wrong. gentrifiers dont come to a neighborhood to raise children. if you have money your not going to raise your kids in roxbury or bushwick brooklyn. gentrifiers are rich little white kids who live off of mommies salaries and kick out innocent people from a place they call home.

I just went to Roxbury with my friend for a day of day drinking - I can "safely" say that there is absolutely zero gentrification.

As someone who grew up in the Rox/Dot area...I want to commend you for this piece....back in the day, whenever we saw improvements in Roxbury, I always told my home boys, it's not for you....20+ years later (moved out in early 90's), it's become clear that those improvements were not for us....Thank you for sharing this piece, it helps me to illustrate to my kids just how fortunate they are to have the life they live....PEACE!

@sugashaneable It not only increases rent but also take the culture out of neighborhoods.You think this only happens in ghettos? It happens in working class white neighborhoods too. It happens wherever the RICH and upper class feel like living. It doesn't fix up the current resident's tenements. Soon they will be priced out and they will be turned to condos.
