  • The character of Alan Shore deserves to be a character remembered with the likes of Atticus Finch. He is not a professionally ethical man, but he is a moral man. His personal code of ethics incorporates Machiavelli with a sense of "do the greatest good". He is highly unethical, but rarely does anything for his own sake. In a way, he sacrifices his own ethical reputation for the sake of aiding people who have no other recourse. Sort of a legal Robin Hood.

  • I love Alan Shore too much to describe.

I guess I love him most because of the "Whatever you can" attitude. As long as you reach ur goal, who gives a shyte what method you use to get there. Yes I know, I'm rebellious ehe

  • This show has always been about making fun of the republican nut-job party. Only it was too subtle in the beginning, too hard to get through such a thick shell in order to reach the pea in the center, so they made it more and more obvious. If you only think it got that way nearer the end, you're one of those republican nut-jobs.

  • @chisaoboy If you're referring to 'Boston Legal', then yes, I agree with you. Towards the end of the series, it was hard to watch. Way too preachy. But this scene is from 'The Practice', which I don't recall ever approaching the kinds of propaganda that 'Boston Legal' ultimately did.

  • @gdkzen Absolutely spot on mate. Best modern day character ever. The friendship of Alan and Denny was also a brilliant effort. the writers and actors are legends.

  • This was such a great show until the writers began turning it into a platform for wacko liberal diatribe.

  • ah ok. No of 'coz I'm not a lawyer but I temped to try once :). I'm very fond of this profession, love reading, watching stuffs about it. Thats y I went out n found this series, watch it and The Practice too. Absolutely love Alan Shore. He was the highlight of The Practice to me too, even though he only appeared in the last season.

  • @SavaVeo Look at what I wrote before "Defend it with all means at your disposal", I never said break the law, cheat, hide evidence. I don't doubt many people break the law. I don't! When you litigate you know that sometimes technicisms can save your case. It will also depend on the country you are litigating but about particular cases I won't speak. If you are a lawyer I recomend you not to cross the line, but the choice is yours, if you're not well keep watching Alan, I like him a lot too!!

  • @angelmtza alright. But it seems you were with Alan in ur ealier reply. Do you remember in The Practice he hided then disposed the knife of that mentally ill guy? Does that make him right?

I remember somewhere someone said "In order to do the right thing, sometimes you have to do the wrong things" or something like that.

  • @SavaVeo No I understood perfectly, the point is you can be a rebellious/ rogue professional and that is fine, but if you are breaking the law in order to achieve your goals sooner or later you pay the consequences. In my view the way is as important as the destination. If the end justifies the means according to your logic then what makes you different from the ones you fight.

  • @angelmtza i think u misunderstood me, i was all for "whatever you can" or "the end justifies the means" :-) . As long as I get result, I usually don't care how I get there.
