    I believe a commercial unit would be far more efficient. there are a lot of variables here most being the mass of the transformer, impedance, and the fact this is a square wave. It works well for what it does, but is more a demo than anything.

    Hey Lewis, great idea. Have you characterized the efficiency of the circuit? If not, would you care to offer a guess as to whether it would be more or less efficient than an off-the-shelf unit?
