The video was shot by the Trifecta/Vesper team who also did A Girl Like You. It was done at a slight speed reduction but it was all done in one shot with the ending added afterwards.

We had a flurry of ideas for it between the band and production team and we ended up with a half animated video similar to Who Framed Roger Rabbit. The animation concept came from listening to the track and capturing a picture in our heads of what the song was saying. The instrumentation is simple and childlike so we thought we'd add that feeling to the video too which ended up working out pretty well!

We are a pop band who write pop songs so of course it makes sense to make a pop video but we wanted it to be more than that. We decided not to be the stars of the video as showing off our new haircuts or outfits really doesn't matter to us. The narrative was thought out by James Kennedy and we loved his idea of delivering a bright video with a dark narrative and not having a happy ending. That's how life is sometimes. "Someday soon" is the heart-wrenching line. That picture of someone really aching and needing for things to get better. This is how the ending came about with 'Sally' looking back in her shoebox collection of dark memories and locking them away in the cupboard.

The filming was a mad race against the clock, we rented a warehouse space and got a joiner in to help build the frame for the set and then we covered it in cardboard with cardboard props to add to the child theme. It was like we were living inside a giant cardboard box for day - very surreal! We only had 3 takes before our time in the warehouse space was up so we didn't even get chance to watch any footage back. This added to the beauty of the filming and capturing the "moment" first time. We just left the place hoping we had what we needed, which luckily we did! So yes there are mistakes you can notice when you watch back again and there are things that look odd but we loved that about it so we went with it.

In all the set was built, props designed/painted and video shot in the space of 12 hours. The time consuming element came after as Trifecta and Vesper spent endless hours working on the animation. But anyway here it is we hope you like it as much as we do!
