Intactivists are against forced circumcision, surgery without consent. Children need to be protected by law from genital reducing surgeries imposed upon them. Adults should be able to make informed choices about their own bodies. The whole issue and controversy of circumcision ends when we respect the basic human right of every infant and child.

@Bonobo3D Very true - their plan isn't to rely on donations alone, but that would certainly help the process go faster. At least there are more avenues for the information to get out now. I doubt so many parents would have gone along with circumcision in the past if they would have had access to the research and online resources we have today.

@zerth11 I am hopeful for this technology (it seems likely it will inevitable happen) but skeptical of its chances that soon.

"if every circumcised guy in America donated $1 ..." That's a big "IF" Most men who were cut as babies are unaware and unwilling to understand what was taken from them. There is a lot of work to be done first getting the average person to understand the harm of circumcision.

@Bonobo3D Right now they've contacted a couple of laboratories to do the research. The science is there; they are ready to proceed with the laboratory trials, but need money to fund the research. It seems like a lot of money to one person, but if every circumcised guy in America donated $1 they would be able to fund the research a hundred times over. The plan is to have the technology ready for human use by 2013. This is our best chance. Even if takes a couple of years, it will be worth it.

@DrKurzman - No national medical association on earth (not even Israel's) endorses routine circumcision. The most recently updated policies (Holland's, Australia's) condemn it.

From the KNMG web site: "Doctors,.. actively and insistently inform parents who are considering the procedure of the absence of medical benefits and the danger of complications" and "There are good reasons for a legal prohibition of non-therapeutic circumcision of male minors."
