@EarlRegent While all of that sounds well intentioned, the founders didn't just step into a world that didn't exist. There have always been politics and "extremist" forces. What you seem to be suggesting is that it is America's duty to stomp out Islam, in short, and that Islam is a great enough threat to trash our basic rights. I don't happen to think having a right to a trial is an "inconvenience". Being able to say we have better policy than the USSR is not what any American should aspire for.
