I take absolutely no credit for the "Punchcard Reader" part of this machine. I wholeheartedly thank Kimundi for the design.

The music is fully programmable, 48 beats of music, 12 measures in common time, 12 notes to choose from which includes every semitone in an octave. With some fancy piston work, the punchcards can be as long as they want, and you can have up to 30 notes to choose from.

I built the punchcard reader from this video of Kimundi's

  • I can't get my punchcard to work :(

  • @gungengod PM me your email address. I'd be glad to give you some pointers.

  • this is such a great idea, i imagine a castle entrance playing some sweet bach, with the giant machine hidden somewhere far away in a basement, noisy as hell.

    like a steam powered harp.

  • It's really great seeing one of these in operation. I also planned on using the same concepts in your build to create a punch card reader. I'm really glad it worked out well for someone and this gives me the confidence to go ahead.

  • amazing

  • By now the best thing done with redstone ive seen!

You, sir, deserve a great 5/5!

  • i did one like this

  • Nice I'm working on a player piano except I'm going to use a 256x16 ROM instead of the punch tape and have the 16 bit output go into the music boxes.

I'm going to use a binary counter to count through all the address on the ROM from 00 to FF.

  • XDDDD so awesome!!!!!!!!!!

  • Well done! Your video is what inspired me to choose this piece for testing my own design of music sequencer.

Just 48 beats is not enough to do this music justice though. :(

  • Nice Job! ;)

  • I pressed Esc when I tried to pause... What does that say...

  • The guy who did Ode to Joy in the same style muted the piston sound file, you can do that next time so you don't need the note blocks to be far away. Great job!

  • I want Bach's Canon playing in the back round in my house. I'd make an armchair and just chillax with my bucket of milk and some bacon.
