Former Secretary of State General Colin Powell endorsed Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg for re-election on Monday Sept 7,2009 at the West Indian Day Parade.
I endorse him, and I hope hell win, Mr. Powell said as he appeared next to Mayor Bloomberg, who was wearing a bright pink sweater, at at a news conference before the parade.
I would encourage everybody in the crowd, all the citizens of New York not just to go with an endorsement, even though endorsements are important, but to look at the record of the individual, said Mr. Powell, a native New Yorker who now lives in Virginia. If they do that, I think they would find that Mike is the guy who ought to be mayor for a third term.
Mr. Powell, who is of Jamaican heritage, was a grand marshal of the parade.

The General is fully convinced that EIGHT IS NOT ENOUGH for New Yorkers' Safety. We need permanent safety in our City. He has very much experiences in Foreign an Domestic Affairs. I see that his endorsement is quite true and correct. Don't change the course. We don't need to repeat the catastofic story of ignorance in the past. We have suffered enough. Let all those sufferings do not come back to us. Let us go forward with PROGRESS. That is the majority of Mew Yorkers really wants. Vote Mike.
