  • @JohnnyAshetonBator wow take it easy. I dunno what you think I was trying to get at. I was not even alive when most of those bands were playing. my comment was in response to what otaku1524 said. I think what I said is a rational explanation for why there is not to my knowledge a massive youth oriented counter-culture in the USA right now and why there probably won't be ever again.

  • @eyehateintegrals

Oh yea, cuz nothing back in the "good ol days" was manufactured. It's not like most people consider this 2 b stivs sellout album or anything. It's not like the Sex Pistols were idiots who stole the fashions of Richard hell and the antics of Iggy. Yea, it's not like any of the punks made msic vids or anything fake and contrived like all the bands 2day. Certainly none of them would have killed 2b succeful and popular. Blo it out ur ass!!!

  • @otaku1524 It's different nowadays because google and facebook know everything about us and consequently every other corporation also does. They give the kids nowadays just enough slack to prevent any real rebellion. before the days of hot topic and manufactured rebellion kids had to make something new, but now there is stuff out there that's just rebellious enough to satisfy the maladjusted kids without turning them into unprofitable weirdos. It's like mind control.

  • There are some bands out there that exist, but they are so far outta' the mainstream that it's difficult to hear their stuff. Record labels seem unwilling to take a chance with any ground-breaking new acts. It's kind of becoming DIY-ish to just go on Facebook of Spotify or one of those other sites and just stream your own stuff or press out your own CD's and self-distribute. Kinda' like 'samizdat'- how Russian writers used to get around the USSR's censors back in the 60's and 70's. Same thing.

  • @otaku1524 Yeah, its a shame there are no bands like Rise against or The Offspring, or even System of a Down.

  • First time hearing this ..awsome..thanks

  • yeah, revolution and rebellion are passe'. Like they are considered clothing lines you can get at Hot Topic. Things nowadays are becoming as bad as the 70's when Stiv, The Ramones, Johnny Thunder, Sex Pistols etc. were coming up. And there isn't any music coming up which is as in-your-face as punk was back in its day.

  • @otaku1524 you can't fake your way through it which is going to be a major problem for this store-bought society who would not recognize proper rebellion if it bit them on the ass (they'd be too busy picking out their Joan Jett hair and studded wristbands)

  • kinda' criminal there ain't more of his music out there being circulated around. . .

  • thanks to Michael Monroes book i star'd to listen Stiv
