@1976SaraM They pull it off so perfectly that they're unlikeable to the extent that when the Mills character pulls that wanna be nun bullshit, it's ridiculous. Nothing in her character up to that point suggested she could go there, and she is rushed into that because the movie had to end. Neither film was really any good but at least the sequel had Boyce and Hart, and I won't turn away from anything that has Roz Russell in it.
@spagandtuna Are you crazy? This is a great movie. You got classic Ros Russell and "the two brats" aren't meant to be hilarious... they're meant to be troublemakers and they both pull it off perfectly. As for the sequel... yeah that was garbage. Hayley Mills wasn't in the sequel because it's rumored that she read the script and knew that it wasn't good at all.
Garbage film despite Roz' best efforts. The two brats are not funny, not likeable, and there is no real transitional points that make the Mills' character's eventual decision credible. Liked the sequel much better. Pass this one by.
If you check the credits for this film, Jim Hutton was not even mentioned. He was great fun in all of his wonderful comedies, including the ones he made at MGM with Paula Prentiss--"Where the Boys Are" is a STANDOUT! His flustered scenes with Rosalind Russell in "Angels" are a mere sampling of what this fine actor could do. Jim, you are sorely missed.
they hold the church together, if you think about it. they have to teach the brats, and that includes their catholic education, which only .5% of the parents practice.
