@OnlyLifeMatters For one or another reasons, all empires in the world, earlyer or later, be finished. Spain was one during three centuries, today isn't more.
But in its time, It was biger, longer and more important than French. This is an historical fact.
By the way, this are you saying about Britain and France maintain today their empires, is a joke, isn't it?
Current empires are USA and China, not England or France.
Regards ;-)

@SrTertuliano well you cannot narrow history to fit your own desires. If you have to name the greatest empires in the world, you will have to look at the course of history as a whole. One thing about British and French empires was, that not only were they bigger, but they also maintained their superpower status even until this day. Spain on the other hand seized being a superpower because of too intense spending.

@OnlyLifeMatters You have spoken that British an French empires "were the largest in the world" NOT only in XIX or XX centuries,
And I have shown you there were other empires (like Spanish) which may be not so larger as British but were largest and more important as French.
Spain was the first gloval maritime an intercontinental empire in the history. The first one in which the sun never set. And it was so during three centuries.
If you only talk about XIX and XX th. Say it.

@SrTertuliano Yeah...but we live in 21st century. World changed a lot since 18th century, and saw British and French empires extending greater. And Mongolian empire was kinda huge too. Your argument was amongst the lousiest i've ever seen.
