From Prime It Up and for the begining painter, an end to end tutorial about painting a 40K Ork to a tabletop standard, beginning with how to prepare a metal miniature and covering basic layering and ink wash techniques to help you bang out your army in record time.

Please be aware that this was a trial run, and due to hard drive failure is missing a couple of bits (nothing that can't be logically worked out).

If you have any trouble with any of the steps, missing or otherwise, please leave a comment and I will do my very best to answer you.

A picture of the finished mini can be seen here: http://img382.imageshack.us/img382/8062/orkuploadii7.jpg

Enjoy!!

  • {addenum} When I say I don't use the Foundation paints, I meant at home. I just haven't had any spare money to purchase the set. The Foundation paints are great, I just have a load of the Citadel Colour range. But I will be buying a set, and I do have a set of the new washes to experiment with.

  • Hi. Remember that the most important thing is to do what you think looks good (what a cop-out!). The only changes I would make to your recipe would be to add some basecoat to the B.Bone before using the colour on it's own to soften the transition, and use B.Bone in the highlights on the rest of the skin to unify the colours on the model but that is my personal opinion and taste. It's a creative hobby and all I hope is I help a bit. I don't use the Foundation Paints, so G.Earth would be fine.

  • hi i like all of your turoials on painting the figure i dont have any foundation paints so in the next week or so i was going to buy the graveyard earth, i just wanted to know if it would do the same job. With the skin i useing goblin green wash it with thraka green wash ad drybrush with scorpion green and a highlight of bleached bone on the palms of the hands and it does like the same effect as yours but i didnt know if using scorpion green was the right thing as i don't have that yellow
