Riding the FAIL Bus that kept stalling (Route 26), going from the Rochester Institute of Technology towards Downtown Rochester. Talk about an epic fail. The bus is a New Flyer D60LF, and is a piece of trash.

  • 327 is actually a good bus, at its full potential its a decent fast bus; it just happened that THIS would be the day that it would screw up. The guy probably couldn't get another bus.

BTW That sound when you guys take off is the parking brake.

  • @Kaufmancab51 Really - thought it was the door interlock.

  • The engines are unreliable the have a number of problems that newflyer has nothing to do with Newflyer simply put They are crate motors from a vendor idk if this is a detroit but i know the name of the bus gets the rep bad or otherwise but newflyers Quality is among the highest in the nation sometimes bad stuff happens and stuff fails after it leaves newflyer its the RTA in this case to make sure the bus is up to snuff and able to fullfill the duties safely and fully

  • @Misfitdc I've rode MARTA plenty of times, and I can tell you that their New Flyers are far superior to their Orion Fleet in terms of ride quality and reliability.

  • Eh, I'm an RIT student and I'm pretty sure the campus to downtown route is the 24 (Marketplace).

  • Yes - that's a 24 bus alright.

  • That sounds like the compressor is not building the air back up as quick as it should be. The engine has a safety feature that keeps the bus from operating when the air is down at a certain level. Once you get the engine fired up, just let the bus sit until the pressure comes up to proper level.

  • I'd have to say that the driver did an excellent job in this situation. He stayed as calm as possible, despite the fact his bus was falling apart. Props to him.

  • From my experience on New Flyers in Akron Ohio, it sounds like the bus has a problem with Recycling the Radiator Coolant. If the Coolant is low or bad, the engine will keep stalling out, especially after making a stop and then when it starts moving again.

  • @musicfreakcc it is, a safety feature, when the bus is off, so the operator can exit, the doors can be pulled closed manually.

  • It's too bad to see a D60LF in such bad shape, Sound Transit has the same year, model,& engine & they get alot more use than this thing must get, our's are freeway buses.

  • I was on a bus in belfast yesterday and guess what it broke down and i took a video of it check it out on my channel

  • The bus does this because the air pressure is too low.

  • @newflyer800 Well the company told him to drive it till it wont run no more. We had the same situation several years ago in nassau County, I remember having this happen to me on a weekly basis! When the MTA took over management from LI Bus operations maintanance improved and this no longer happened. But now that the county wants to privatize the system, we can look forward to this nonsense again.

  • This used to be a common occurance at Long Island Bus before the MTA merged it into NYC bus operations. But now that its getting privatized, we can look forward to this all over again.

  • Kinda sad to see a D60LF in such horrible shape, in Vancouver we have the exact same bus, exact same engine and I have never been on one that has simply conked out... or broken down in any way shape or form, and we even run 'em on the highway at 60+ MPH day in and day out.
