this is one of my favorite videos. dude is telling the truth! he knows the "wack formula" and whats funny is, you can watch vids like this where the producer is serious, droppin these type of beats and the layman is biggin him up! And if you try to drop a gem of knowledge, they will put the "hater" beam on ya and say "you can't do what he does" then you laugh xD

If you examine music history & production further you will see that some genres of music & artists benefit from using weak sounds & claps
light beats may help give weak vocals some space.& handclaps give a song a party vibe.
eg bossa nova has very light beats
Imagine george clintons atomic dog or chic good times with snares instead of handclaps.
A snare would not have the same energy. .
weak beats are not wack beats but can easily be misinterpreteted with poppy unoriginal music..

@tygaelement well duhh. eric b & rakim's "i aint no joke" used the 808 kik and clap. hip hop came from the 808s but i am sick of hearing it in every song with teh same cheesy triton synths. if t's azz, it's azz. i don't even care if you're using snares. garbage is garbage.

@tygaelement trust me bro, the shit mantronix was doing is far better than wut BET pushes at the moment.nothing is wrong with the 808 but on every song with the SAME pattern? if primo used "synthetic substituion" on every song from an entire album he produced with the same pattern, would that be hot too? bottom line, the shit out today is trash. and if you're arguing the fact that parliament didnt use snares on a few songs as an excuse that it doesn't, then that's hilarious.
