@smoothmove Hi, it's actually a bit faster than it appears in the movie (fraps makes it appear slower here). In the game there's several swing types you can choose from and the swing lessons are also an option. I've had this game since 2003. It's a beauty to look at and very relaxing.
I've only just reinstalled it after a couple of years and only found out recently that there's still loads playing it daily. They hook up on gameranger I noticed.

each chip, putt, drive would have it's own swing moation. every action would have it's own set of animations. add in true ball physics. different loops for celibrations on a nice hit. after checking out links...I realized what golf can get away with compared to most sports games. links is an old school game but at times it comes off looking more realistic then tiger woods games. mostly do to that photo realistic cutout feeling. would be cool to see a new aged version of links with 2011 features.

imagine if they remade this game. but with the trees, crowd and water created in real time. just like the golf swings with a 2010 upgrade. whatever moved in reality would move in the game. instead of game graphics... everything would be photo realistic. each movable object in the game would have it's own set loops. have different loops for tree sway when faster wind comes into play. different walks for each golfer. they could scan each players movements and put it in the game.

@smoothmove Yep, plenty have imagined it and of course it would be awesome if they ever did that using todays standards. Seven years is a massive technological leap in pc and graphics know how. I first played this on a P4, 3ghz and an ati radeon 9600 agp :).
Fingers crossed though. Maybe they will take the best from all the golf games and make a really 'Great one'. Cheers for the comments.
