Smoke on the Water [HD]

Defense minister Karl Theodor zu Guttenberg's military farewell from office with full military honors by Germany's military brass band and Berlins guard battalion. Guttenberg chose the song 'Smoke on the Water' by Deep Purple as the theme for his formal send-off and the band had only two days to practice it.

@jackuppercut The torches are origined in the night apell ca. 300 y. ago and find there way in the German military tradition since that days. Thereforee every ""Großer "Zapfenstreich" (Night apell) is holded by night/darkness and illuminated by torches.

From this times there is also too the defintion or meaning in civil, that the bar/pub closes.(Zapfen Streich) means the beer crane (Zapfen) of the barrel would be cutted (Streich).

Er hat es sich verdient, sich an dem Musikstück zu seinem Zapfenstreich zu erfreuen! Er war bzw. ist immernoch einer der besten Politiker in der Deutschen Geschichte!

Ich kann ihn mir sogar sehr als Bundeskanzler vorstellen!

Contrary to popular belief, all german soldiers were not nazis. The helmet and dress are part of the traditional german military uniform and not part of the Nazi's regime. If they had double lightning bolts on the lapel or swastikas then i would understand your confusion but germany has come along way from those days.
