The local Dayak Shamans have a practise healing a sick person by putting their illness into statutes and either burying those statutes in the jungle or tossing them into rivers.

I carry on the tradition down by the Kuching riverside.

The pops in the audio are from the electricity of the surrounding tropical thunderstorm

  • people like these kind of vids because you're revealing something of yourself and making it personal.

remember you cant change your past, only your future.

  • @creegirl9 yeah well I suppose you never see this kind of thing in the mainstream media.

  • .. so great to be facing all that stuff with the storm going on - out of this world vibes Mark! ..

  • @GeoffJennyOliver you guys will appreciate this, I can spend days editing a video...and get no feedback. I can walk down to the dock of the bay, upset over a scorned love affair, do some angry rant to camera...and people love it! Always something to learn :) That old saying about filmmaking ' Make life hard for thy protagonist'

  • Sometimes it takes a while to realize the toxic dynamics of a place...it sure looks like you stayed long enough to find out. It will probably come full circle for you though...when someone from Kuching passes through your area.

Better luck with the next part of the adventure Mark. Excellent video!

  • @ArizonaBob I leave kuching with no hard feelings, and Bob, if you were to read between the lines, there is always a failed romance involved when a man comes across all angry and hard done by :)

  • Sometimes ppls' tastes puzzle me too. They love sensational videos & clips of cute animals doing stupid things, when the really good videos are just overshadowed. Either way i still like your travel videos very much & will continue to follow.

Whatever happened in Kuching I hope you're already over it because as a backpacker i realise there are always people around to screw your day wherever you go. Perhaps being indifferent to negativities is the best way to go. Easier said than done though! XD

  • Yeah, I find that I can get rid of a lot of feelings by tossing into a river too.

  • @overlander its raw and its real. i hope you find some peace

  • @overlander more of my 2 centavos... yes, make life hard. I've found as a writer, its in the struggles that the story is told. even for comedy... struggle that the audience can identify with. Out of great pain comes great art my friend. its universal.

  • @overlander So true... I missed it. Glad you leave Kuching without bad feelings and that your stay there was a good experience over-all. Good luck on your next adventure Mark.
