My Dad, brother and I play with a Lotus Esprit Turbo which I owned for all of 3 weeks.

The song is being preformed by my brother's band.

Sorry film fans, this isn't a movie or anything, just a family video.

You can read about it and see more pics at:

  • Very nice. I *WILL* get myself one of these cars someday.

BTW, how tall is your dad? He looked pretty close to the roof and I've heard conflicting things about headroom.

  • He's 6 foot 3. He fit fine, though my brother who is 6 foot 5 and long legged didn't have a lot of room for his left leg so he had trouble getting it off the clutch.

  • I have a 87 HCI up here in Boulder Creek. It's a blast on 9 and 35. Great video.

  • If I may ask, where do you have yours serviced?

  • Well put together video on a great car.

  • Thanks! I hope to get another one soon. Those 3 weeks I had that one made a big impression on me.

  • Great car, great editing. What happened to the Esprit?

  • @zabijaq123

Actually LESS fragile than contemporary Italian cars. Who were/still are known for their flimsy electronics. Let's not even mention the ergonomics of them.

  • Fantastic video! Thank you for sharing!

  • @elveggoloco I'm not talking about crash test strength but reliability.

French tranny from R25 almost killed one awesome car.

Fragile how? Yes, they're built to be lightweight, and the body is more of an aerodynamic aid than a structural unit, but I think that the reputed fragility is a bit over-played. Back in the 1990s a few GT raging Esprits (same chassis/body as street cars) got crunched on the track, and they didn't crack up as much as one would have expected them to. Overall it's a rather solid car, at least mine is so far. :)

Well, true to my word I got one. Back in November '10 I picked up an '86 HCi (in the ultra-rare Essex Blue) from a guy in Denver who owned it since '89. Very dry in Denver; nothing on the car is even slightly corroded. Really good condition, and none of the boneheaded 'repairs' he made were either major or irreversible. In the five months that I've had it I've been into just about every nook and cranny making sure that it's all right.

    HELUVA BLAST to drive! :D

  • It's a pitty that Esprits are so fragile. :\

  • Lovely car, silvers one of the best colours for the esprit..Looking for a esprit myself..Thanks for the upload

  • i love these cars my dad has a 86 hci turbo esprit in red and it is awsome
