Snoop Doggy Dogg's original depute was not "Doggystyle" in 1993. It was "Over The Counter" in 1991. It was essentially some tracks Snoop had done on his own before he came to Death Row and many were early Death Row cuts. "Over The Counter" was never pressed to CD and never really distributed. At this time Death Row had a temporary distribution deal directly with Time Warner. Death Row bounced around on several companies before signing to Interscope. Compared to the later albums it is sort of an awkward album as far as production and guest appearances. This particular song was recorded in 1991.

So that's the story. Many claim this album to be fake. Many claim it was a hoax created by a guy with too much time on his hands. But no one has ever asked Snoop himself, so we'll never know for sure until then. Over the past few years "Over The Counter" has became sort of a myth in the hip hop underworld. You can determine it's legitimacy.

  • This song was clearly not made in 1991. He says in the 9-8. Shaq was playing for the Lakers in the 1998. Also he says think a nig*** dumb cuz a nig*** gettin older. I highly doubt that a 19 or 20 year old would say that. Cristal and playa hatin. No way this was 1991.

  • ^^^

  • yeah, the flow/voice is not that of early Snoop. He mentions the 'case was dropped' about the 96' murder case +he remininces about dre's beats in NWA- he wouldnt no way said that in 91 as dre signed him to go into beef with eazy. 'Paper chasing' & 'westcoast anthem' are a late 90's rap term too. They even spelt 'remember' wrong on the back!! + no rapper would speed up their lyrics to fit a beat, its clearly been done a geek on the web.

  • ^^^^!!! By the way, it's not a fan made track with sped up lyrics. The whole song is sped up.

  • at 2:47 Snoop raps..."That's how I do it in the '98....he rapped dat in "92...nah dis aint from '92 its '98 dats why he mentions shaq....

  • He says nine-ace. While playing at LSU, O'Neal was a two time All-American, two-time SEC player of the year, and received the Adolph Rupp Trophy as NCAA men's basketball player of the year in 1991. This gained him national recognition and acclaim. He was pretty famous before he signed to the Orlando Magic. They called him Shaq Diesel. He later named an album after it.

  • @ogfunk187

    no.your gullible off your theories

  • @boligrapho you're gullible.

  • @ogfunk187 the funny thing is that this song actually did come out in 1991 on the demo tape over the counter which came out 1991

  • @DisturbedOne2008 how did you know that

  • @DisturbedOne2008

Intro of this song (which is cut) - Snoop introduces this song on his radio station as a world premiere.

Middle of this song is cut because the radio station tag is played at that part.

End of the song is cut where radio snoop cuts in saying that was another exclusive featuring the big homie charlie wilson and snoop start blabbing on the radio.

  • Just to clarify rumors on this song, it was made in 1997-1998. It clearly features CHARLIE WILSON, who wasnt working with Snoop Dogg until around 1995/1996. The song is sped up. For all the ppl claiming to have bought this song in 1991, that tape is a fan made bootleg with a tracklist of songs Snoop did pre-deathrow, during deathrow, post-deathrow.

  • aint nuthin but a old death row snoop dre sneed style
