Boy, does this bring back memories. Back in 1974-76 I used to race my mr50 and rm80 there. Had some pretty good battles as a kid. MAN..! Those were the days. There just aren't too many motocross tracks around these days and the ones that are normally cost quite a bit of money. Long Live INDIAN DUNES!
Man, Friday nights on the International track, back Sunday morning to rhe Shadow Glens.. Started going to the dunes when I was 12 with guys like Danny LaPorte(he was an intermediate at the time) in the 70s, Mike Mcatee, Mike Golden, Russ Mortenson.when there was an expert class. Loved it, 30 guys on the line ,different bikes, those were the days...
This was the best MX park ever! The big International track was intimidating for me back in the day, but the Shadow Glen track I could ride all day. I miss that place and always look out over the farmland when I drive by and think back to the glory days on that almost sacred land. Thanks for the post!
My dad always tells me stories of this place. How great it was, memories, how many people showed up, the nachos. He used to race pro back in the day, the other day me and him went riding at Piru MX track right up the street from where indian dunes used to be, nothing but flat grated land. Would have been cool to grow up at a place like my dad did.
San Pedro to Indian dunes. I always asked my dad when are we getting there. I am glad now looking back, Indian dunes was fun and full of great memories.
