did you fix the distributator thing yet?
-
Oh... And you shouldnt place a drink near a computer that you are working on!

A better way to test if it's the backlight or inverter is to get a multimeter and test for current coming out of the inverter. From my experience, liquid damage usually causes the inverter to go (not the backlight).

The bulb (CCFL) length is critical. Since the difference is only 0.1 inches I would assume that it will work. If not you can look around on lcdparts and find one that's the right size.

I wondered if it would not have been possible to measure the voltage of the inverter's output jack with a multimeter before buying a backlight, etc.

Good point. That's what I get for assuming that it was just the backlight! It's also possible that both were blown, and I have no way of testing the CCFL so I'll never know. Luckily I am one of those crazy types who likes to take things apart just for fun.
