When the L.A. Angels routinely outperform the statistical models, the only excuse stat-heads have is to call them "lucky" when a simple analysis of the statistical models reveals that these models do not even take into account the methods that the Angels use to score runs and win games. It is not "Luck," It is a bad model.

Pretty sure he didn't say the stats were meaningless, just that the popular methods of projection are not taking into account certain factors he considers important. Nothing wrong with that criticism, stats lovers.
