Thank you for posting this. It'll always remind me of Montana. I was born and raised here and plan on dying here. There's something about the rolling fields that seem to go on forever until they reach the mountains, or the way the Big Blackfoot never changes as the years pass by. It's difficult to analyze love when you're in it.
Oh, I'll never leave Montana, brother. <3

I have been in Idaho 18 years. I lived in Los Angeles. I have fly fishes for 18 years. I want to thank Roger, my friend, for showing me to count and present....for showing me to rsepect and be patient, to breathe and ponder where we are when we cast a line...
Ths fishing in this film summareizes my 18 years in Idaho, experinencing what few know.

This and " The Cider House Rules" are two of the best storytelling films I really enjoy. Thanks for posting.

Watched this again last night. It gets better and more meaningful every time. This is a masterpiece of American cinema. Everything about what it means to be human is in this film. This film (and to Kill a Mockingbird) should be required viewing for all high school students.
Never in the history of cinema, has another film contained perfect storytelling, perfect acting, perfect cinematography, and perfect music. This is the most beautiful and haunting movie I have ever seen. Redford created a film that will touch everyone on some level - some more than others, perhaps. But it is impossible to come away from this and not be moved.

Thanks for posting. We just moved away from Missoula. We lived above the other river, the Bitterroot. And I miss it. Watching friends and neighbors fly-fish as I drive home over the one-lane McClay Bridge. Hatchlings rising from the river in the slanting rays from the setting sun. I love this music. The emotions and imagery it conveys.CHOPWOOD
