Let's not also forget the presidents remark about cap and trade. Electricity anyone? Pay up. How and why do you think more laws, taxes, and bizarre amounts of federal spending are going to fix our economy?

You fail to mention that the bill forces people who already can't afford health care insurance to buy health care insurance. If they don't buy health care insurance, they will be taxed as a fine. Try to explain why the government should be able to FORCE OR PUNISH us just for not having health care insurance? I don't want health care insurance. What is MY option?

thegame2125,

But you specifically said "TAXES", which is not true unless you are in that top 2%.

If anything, we've seen over the last 8 years that this notion of trickle down economics affects America in a negative way.

Also, keep in mind that you will be SAVING on health care costs when there is REAL competition. So what little effect (if any) a tax on the top 2% would have would more than be countered out.

Boot. We are just going to have to agree to disagree my friend. That's I guess what makes America great. Sometimes gridlock is what we need. Good luck!

>>Sometimes gridlock is what we need.

I agree with you on your previous comment that we will likely have to agree to disagree. It's very difficult to change minds on topics like politics.

But on the other hand there are a lot of flat out lies out there right now and to quote Rachel Maddow, "When you are wrong, you should loose the argument."

Obama "raising your taxes" being a common talking point and is flat out wrong, unless you fall in that "filthy rich" %, which the vast majority do not.

continued.

So I am trying to do my part, by thoroughly researching and providing links to credible sources (mainly factcheckDOTorg and politifactDOTcom) when I respond to people. These sites are great and I hope more people dive into them as issues like health care are important.

I actually switched parties after Bush and once I started researching issues (which I really didn't back then) I quickly saw what a scam the republican party was. It's kind like falling for a pyramid scheme. LOL

You're a good man Boot!

I'll look more into your posts but realize that I'm not a fan of big government. They have failed us too many times. Dems/Repubs.

Have a great weekend!

Boot. One more "C'mon man". I won't ever say a President is responsible for the DOW going up or down. They have somewhat of an effect but not that much. If that were the case we should be praising "Dub-ya" while he was in office because we were over 14,000 points. Plus, if memory serves, most Wall Street types don't particularly care for the incumbent. And seeing how we are still in a recession, most people saving are the rich. Plus, I know my house has not gone up in value.

But there is evidence that STIMULUS (enacted BY the president) affects the economy in a very positive way.

Also, see my website as I have all of the info (more than mentioned in that video) from economyDOTcom on taxes vs gov spending.
