Even though I was a thorough fan of Chen & wanted him to win, seeing Sakai giving it his all in this battle was just marvelous. He's truly a worthy & humble king of Iron Chef!

Hiroyuki Sakai, as great as Rokusaburo Michiba, if not greater.

It's been over 10 years since the last episode of The Original Iron Chef, and none of the other battles will EVER top this final battle, EVER.

@CEOcutter ok i think ur point is valid. however i dont think all judges should chefs... .maybe have one chef as a judge and the rest just common lay people. because for a tv show such as this to work. we need to be able to relate to the judges. if all judges were chefs i dont think the tasting part of the show would be so fun to watch. all the chefs that get to go on iron chef are already great chefs. i believe the audience wants to see how it tastes to a common tongue as opposed to chef tongue

No, I still dont' think anybody could judge. That where the home court come into play. If you have a person judge 2 dish from 2 different region. It all come down to your confort tastes. Both dish are at the top level, but the judge is more used to one dish just simply cause they originated from that place or somewhere similar. But your job as a chef is to experinment the possibly for a ingredient, what make sense, what doesn't. That why a chef should be the judges.

@CEOcutter well yea sure. but great food is still great who ever the judge is.. so i dont see why a normal person who is not a chef cannot judge the dishes accurately based on the merits of taste alone. i do agree that the judges however may have voted based on emotions abit more than needed. They are the 'home court' anyways.

My bad about the first comment, I was wrong, I type too fast, didn't read. These judge didn't judge by tasted. They judge by emotion and popularity. I agree with you on one thing, Great food can be eating by everybody, YES. BUT, great food cannot be made by everybody. That a big difference. Only chef can be judges of food, it just like saying anyone can be God, Hitler will be in heaven LOL. No one can take god place, just like in order to understand food, you must be a chef.
