Yong Vui Kong faces the death penalty, which is carried out by hanging, after he was convicted in 2008 of trafficking 47 grams (1.65 ounces) of heroin into Singapore.

Both Malaysia and Singapore have tough anti-drug laws and rarely seek clemency for nationals facing drug charges in the other country.

Singapore human right lawyer M Ravi, describe that Yong Vui Kong comes from poor family, and being illiterate and deceived, he lost his way and ended up facing death penalty for drug trafficking.

He said that Yong has acknowledged his wrongdoing, but haven't given up life. Though behind bars, he studies language and turns to Buddhism.

Ravi urged Singapore government to give Yong a second chance for live.

  • This shows the Singapore President has no power even in the case of Presidential Mercy Petition. The President kow tows to the cabinet who kow tows to Lee Kuan Yew.

  • hello pls if u dun wan to die you dun bring drug to singapore la.. you take drug to sell in singapore do u knw many people will suffer? pls hope next of your life dun do it anymore...

  • In this equation , there is consequences :(

  • I support the High Court Judges decision to sentence him to death. Now, he is caught and some people say give him second chance, what if he managed to escaped? how many people will suffer? Let us not be too emotional, be rational. If a person choose to go against the law, then he or she got to prepare to face the music. Please look at history how the people during the QING Dynasty got addicted to opium (drug) and suffered!!!

  • @wendyneo - those who is trying to rebutt you , you block them so depriving them of the right to shame you! Moreover , you have been so boastful as to dare the authority to catch you with your having australia and singapore passport (nationality) Wow , so cocky, the immigration , police should take a good look at this bitch who is so gung lo, well, good luck , just hope the relevant authority can do a good job !

  • @wendyneo

The mandatory death sentence for drug traffickers is the only thing that stands in the way of Singapore being a drug infested country. Without it, kids as young as 14 would be stuck on drugs and jabbing themselves on the streets because of the abundance of drugs. NO ONE should be exempted from that law no matter what their citizenship is. If u don't want to receive the death penalty, keep ur drugs in ur own country. Don't dirty our streets with it. Stupid idiot.

You, barking like a rabid dog, again, for your PAP master! How's the bone your master threw at you? Juicy? Go to a corner to chew your bone, little boy. Shoo! LOL
