  • @keatross A skate to the neck in the case of Zednik or Malarchuk is a mere accident. There was nothing accidental about this. While I do agree that both players should be equally penalized, it shows that neither of them have good sportsmanship, therefore they're both failures to the sport in my perspective.

  • @F1V1 Well, the fact of the matter is that there are bad things that happen in hockey... Honestly i'd rather take a slash to the face than a skate blade to the neck. Bad things happen, it's life. Honestly both players should have been equally penalized. They basically gave the guy who saw what he was doing a get out of jail free card... where as perezhogin was swinging blindly, not quite knowing what he would hit.

  • @keatross Whether or not you can control yourself on the ice though separates the good from the bad in hockey.

  • @F1V1 In the heat of the moment I highly doubt "I'm going to try to injure this person" went through either of their minds. Stuff happens. It's a fast pace game with fast decisions, some good some VERY bad.

  • @Bulldogs119 Lol it took you a year to reply? And no that's not what I'm saying. Perezhogin wasn't right for what he did and neither was Stafford, however, Stafford didn't stand up and purposely try to cause injury to Perezhogin.

  • @F1V1 So if Stafford connected on the ground it would've been okay? That was a stupid comment. . . . .

  • There's a difference between both of them being at an equal level swinging at each other and one of them standing up swinging at the other on the ground. Obviously Stafford couldn't have gotten full power anyway even if he attempted to swing. Perezhogin stood up and put full force into it while Stafford was still on the ground.

  • Actually if you watch the video his stick hits perezhogin in the head and glances off. So unless Stafford just happens to make 'baseball' like swings when he gets up I'd say he was looking to inflict some serious damage. Perezhogin was suspended the remainder of the playoffs and the entire following season. Which is complete bullshit compared to the 6 games Stafford got when he initiated the entire conflict, and was less than an inch away from striking Perezhogin in the face.

  • No, I definitely saw it. The cross check to the face that Stafford executed put him at fault for beginning this. Perezhogin was never hit by Stafford's stick and for all we know, when Stafford turned over, he could have just been turning over to get back up instead of swinging at Perezhogin. Perezhogin stood up and swung as hard as he could at Stafford's head while Stafford was on the ground. Neither player were good in the play, but I think Perezhogin's action was a bit worse.

  • Wow, then i guess you didn't see the cross check to the face by Stafford then the 'baseball' swing by Stafford that hit Perezhogin in the head.
